A fresh and easy salsa made with mangoes, tomatoes, red onions, jalapeño, cilantro, and a touch of Indian spices lends an exotic touch to your summer snacking needs.
Raise your hand if summer is your favorite season. What other season lets you feast on fresh salads, juicy popsicles, and fresh lemonade at will? Summer is most definitely my favorite. The fresh produce that is on offer during the warmer months is simply stunning and inspiring, to say the least. Out of all of them, the mango is my all-time favorite. There are several ways to enjoy this golden fruit, but a recent discovery was this fresh mango salsa bursting with juicy flavor and a hint of spice.
Speaking of spices, check out this Yin Yang Storage Bin that provides elegant, airtight storage for my spices. They are a modern take on a traditional Indian masala dabba or spice box. It’s an easy, functional and cute way to store your favorite spices on the countertop, right where you need them.
Sometimes I like to just open my spice box, glance at the contents and take in all the textures, colors and aromas. I cannot help but be inspired to create something new at such times. A pinch of this, a dash of that, and you can take a regular recipe to new depths of flavor and new levels of deliciousness.
The Yin Yang Storage Bin comes in two separate pieces that allows me to store my powders and whole spices separately. No more accidental spills or mixing of flavors.
This fresh summer mango salsa is a great recipe for all your summer snacking needs. It goes great with tortilla chips, toasted pita bread or even on bruschetta. I used ripe but firm mangoes, tomatoes, red onions, jalapeño peppers, fresh cilantro and lime in my salsa. And to add an Indian twist, I seasoned the mango salsa with Himalayan pink salt, and a generous pinch of chat masala.
Chat masala is a dry spice blend of cumin, ginger, aamchoor (dried mango powder), black pepper and chilies. It can be sprinkled on anything to add a little bit of oomph to your dish. Sprinkle some on roasted vegetables, slices of fruit, eggs or salads for added savoriness and a little bit of spice. You can definitely make this salsa without it, but I highly recommend that you grab a packet of chat masala from your local Indian grocery store; you will be hooked for sure!
